Questions we hear a lot
The short answers live here. The long ones live in the Field Notes.
The answers
Why are all the courses made up?
Because drawing a real course’s plates or trading on a tournament’s name is a legal and ethical minefield, and it isn’t necessary. Midiron Fields, Fescue Hollow, and the rest are invented — but every carry, contour, and F/M/B stack is drawn to be plausible enough that a caddie wouldn’t flinch.
Is the insider notation actually correct?
That’s the whole point. F/M/B stacks lead with the front number, fall-line arrows point downhill, the mashie is the 5 and the niblick is the 9, and loft is measured off vertical. If we ever get one wrong, tell us — corrections become the next drawing.
How does Midiron make money?
Two ways: affiliate commissions when you buy recommended gear through our links (as an Amazon Associate we may earn a commission), and our own original merchandise. No brand pays for a spot on the ranking.
How long does an order take?
Everything is made to order: 3–7 business days of handling, then shipping. Most US orders arrive within 5–10 business days total, with tracking emailed on dispatch.
Is the course-craft advice pro instruction?
It’s course-management and stats thinking for real handicaps, drawn from playing and from players who keep their own numbers — not certified instruction. For a swing rebuild, see a coach; for where the trouble is, read on.
